The retired league president received countless honors and awards during his career.

After decades in the credit union movement, Cornerstone Credit Union League President and CEO Dick Ensweiler retired at the end of April. Ensweiler talked to the CUNA News Podcast a few weeks prior to his retirement and reflected on his life in credit unions.

Watch the interview here.

Ensweiler was involved with a long list of initiatives in the credit union movement and has been honored with countless awards, including the World Council of Credit Unions’ Ambassador and Distinguished Service Awards and the National Credit Union Foundation’s Herb Wegner Individual Achievement Award.

One of the keys to his success is his dedication to the job at hand, Ensweiler said. “When I tackle something, I do it with everything I have,” he says. “I give a lot of hours. I give a lot of care. I do a lot of coaching of my staff. I'm just really, really engaged.”

“I'm ready, but it isn't something that I jump up and down and say, ‘Yay, it's over.’ Because I still believe in what we did and I'm so proud of where we've come,” Ensweiler says.
