CUNA Lending Council White Paper Discusses Role of the Chief Lending Officers
Thursday, August 28, 2014 6:35 AM

Chief Lending Officers are leaders, not only at the credit union, but in the community: they develop strategy and see it implemented, and are entrusted by the board to be creative problem solvers, as well as keep the credit union compliant. Internally, they build a strong team; externally, they build relationships with vendors, business leaders, members, and other community leaders.

A new white paper, The Chief Lending Officer: An Examination of the Role and How to Get There, published by the CUNA Lending Council, explores:

  • The Chief Lending Officer Position Defined;
  • The Growth Path of a CLO, and
  • Asks the question, “Why Strive for CLO?”

Readers will gain insight into how Chief Lending Officers and other credit union leaders see the role. While the spotlight is on how to grow into the CLO role, any aspiring credit union leader will find valuable advice here. The paper concludes with a look at why someone may aspire to become a CLO.

CUNA Council members are eligible to receive complimentary copies of this, and more than 300 other white papers.

The paper is available online in the white paper section of
