CUNA Drives CU Awareness in the Press During GAC
Friday, February 26, 2016 6:40 AM

During the week of its Governmental Affairs Conference, Credit Union National Association placed a number of op-eds and guest columns in the press to raise awareness about issues ranging from Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) reform to member advocacy, to payments trends.

In CEO Jim Nussle's op-ed in The Hill, he continued to stress the problem of overregulation and how it's making it hard for small credit unions to keep their doors open.

The Credit Union Association of New Mexico also secured local coverage of CUNA's regulatory burden cost study in Albuquerque Business First.

Nussle reminds credit unions to not hesitate to contact local media outlets, in addition to your elected officials, to raise awareness about important credit union issues.

CUNA also co-authored an op-ed with a coalition of financial services trade organizations to bring to light the disappointing actions of retailers, who have decided to pocket revenue gained due to price controls on debit card costs. Congress passed those restrictions to reduce consumer cost, not bloat retailer coffers.
