Credit Union National Association has confirmed Jason Furman, chair of the White House Council of Economic Advisors, as a speaker for the fast-approaching Governmental Affairs Conference, which runs March 8-12, 2015.

The economic council advises the president on economic policy, prepares the president's annual economic report, and conducts economic research for the White House.

Federal lawmakers who have been confirmed to speak include:

  • Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH)
  • Sen. Steve Daines (R-MT)
  • Sen. Chuck Grassley (R-IA)
  • Sen. Jeff Merkley (D-OR)
  • Sen. Gary Peters (D-MI)
  • Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA)
  • Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-CA)
  • Rep. Randy Neugebauer (R-TX)
  • Rep. Mark Takai (D-HI)

All three National Credit Union Administration board members have also made it official: NCUA Chair Debbie Matz will address the conference the morning of March 9, Vice Chair Rick Metsger will speak that afternoon, and board member J. Mark McWatters will speak first thing in the morning on March 10.

Other power-packed speakers on the GAC lineup include legislator, governor and inaugural Secretary of Homeland Security Tom Ridge; Ari Fleischer, former White House press secretary for President George W. Bush; and Arianna Huffington, author, columnist and co-founder/editor-in-chief of The Huffington Post.

And in a new Sunday general session sponsored by the CUNA Councils, retired Gen. Stanley McChrystal, former commander of U.S. and international forces in Afghanistan, will be the featured speaker.
