Wednesday, September 24, 2014 7:00 AM

CUES has announced that Tony Budet, CCUE, president/CEO, University Federal Credit Union in Austin, Texas, is their 2014 CUES Outstanding Chief Executive. Budet will be honored at the CUES CEO/Executive Team Network on Sunday, Nov. 2, at the Omni Amelia Island Plantation Resort in Amelia Island, Florida.

The CUES award recognizes exceptional leaders who display professional achievement, employee motivation, and dedication to the community. In their announcement, CUES noted that under Budet's leadership, numerous educational resources were established for UFCU's members, employees, and volunteers, including online resources, in-person workshops, and seminars. In 2014 alone, UFCU was host to more than 35 such events.

Budet's efforts also help better the UFCU community. He is a member of the Greater Austin Crime Commission and director of Mission: Possible! In 2013, UFCU contributed $100,000 to the Greater Austin community as a lead sponsor of Amplify Austin's 1st annual day of giving. In 2010, UFCU was recognized as an exceptional Small Business Administration lender and awarded the 2010 Rising Star Award by the San Antonio District of the U.S. Small Business Administration. UFCU was named one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas in 2011; and most recently, in 2014, Budet was awarded the Rev. Dr. George J. Beto Community Leadership Award, presented by Concordia University Texas.

CUES President/CEO Chuck Fagan described Tony as "the embodiment of what it means to be CUES Outstanding Chief Executive."

Cornerstone Credit Union League CEO Richard Ensweiler said, "As UFCU's cultural leader, an industry thought leader, and an exemplary civic leader, it is not surprising that CUES would honor Tony Budet with their Outstanding Chief Executive award. Tony is one of the most engaging and dynamic individuals I have worked with in a long time; and he has rightly earned the respect of his employees, his peers, and those who might judge his deep commitment to credit unions. CUES has selected a most deserving chief executive, and I extend to Tony my best wishes and congratulations."
