Southwest 66 CU Presents Check to Latter Rain Christian School

Southwest 66 CU says they’ve just presented the Latter Rain Christian School (Knights) with a check for $507.76. As part of the credit union’s commitment to give back to the Odessa community, the credit union offers a debit card displaying the logo of an area schools or organization. These cards are referred to as affinity cards, and credit union members can opt to carry a special Southwest 66 CU debit card with the Knights logo. Each time the member uses their special affinity debit card, the credit union makes a donation to the school or organization – which is paid to the organization quarterly throughout the year.

This donation was presented to the Knights last Friday, at an awards ceremony. Southwest 66 CU Sean Cahill says that giving back to the community is an organizational priority.

“Our board has made giving back to our members and the community a number one priority,” Cahill said. “One way we are able to demonstrate this is by partnering with local schools and organizations like the Latter Rain Christian School to offer a special debit cards that give proceeds to such a worthy organization.”

Tinker FCU Featured in Credit Unions Online for its HELOC Promotion

Tinker FCU is featured in Credit Unions Online, for its HELOC promotion. The credit union tells the online publication that their spring HELOC promotion will run March 10 through May 31. The credit union will be offering a limited time rate of 1.99 percent for 12 months.

“During the promotion, which will include collateral at the branches, outdoor & print media, and radio, we will also conduct a mini social media promotion, giving away $2,000 toward a ‘spring makeover,’” Carolyn Kelly, AVP of marketing communications, tells Credit Unions Online.

People will be asked to submit a photo of something they’d like to replace or “make over.” In addition to the $2,000 grand prize, Tinker FCU will give away smaller items, such as power tools, and ask people to tell how they would use the tool. Viewers will vote for the winners.

Kelly said that spring is a prime time to promote a special HELOC offer, since this is a time when people are really thinking about improving and beautifying their homes and property.

“As with all of our services, we try to offer our members what they need and want, at the best possible rate,” added Kelly. “HELOCs are a great way to take advantage of equity in one’s home to improve the looks, functionality and, hopefully, value of that property, and maybe get a tax break at the same time.”
