Credit Unions Care Doesn't Have to End

CUs Care Presentation

Credit unions have done a great job during the initial phase of the Credit Unions Care initiative. The first round of “donation dog” sales was impressive, and excitement from each CU Ride event continues to build. But as we move forward, when is your next chance to wear your red t-shirts and to spread the credit union message?

Wednesday night, the Fort Worth Chapter of Credit Unions hosted the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation Retirement Fair simulation. Foundation Executive Director Courtney Moran and Grants Manager Emily Moreno led attendees in an abbreviated version of the Retirement Fair experience.

If you’ve never experienced a Retirement Fair, I encourage you to do so. A great way to introduce your staff to the concept would be to hold a fair at a chapter or staff meeting. Once they see how easy it is to do, perhaps partner with one of your employee groups to host a fair for member financial education.

Phase 1 of the Credit Unions Care initiative is almost over, but that doesn’t mean your credit union has to slow roll your marketing and public relations efforts. Here are some ideas to promote your involvement while showing your members and the public that Credit Unions Care.

  • Staff red T-shirt days
  • Buy groceries for an hour at a grocery store
  • Deliver candy and/or cookies to a nursing home
  • Visit a local hospital with gifts or treats for patients
  • Surprise people at gas pumps with gift cards
  • Organize a financial education seminar for members
  • Deliver cases of water to your fire department (most cities DO NOT provide water bottles for their firefighters!)

Share with us what you're doing to promote credit unions. For training assistance on setting up your own Reality or Retirement Fair, contact the Foundation at 800-953-8283. To order Credit Unions Care marketing materials or to make a donation, visit our website.
