Credit Unions Care Campaign Leaders Recognized
Monday, September 14, 2015 6:55 AM

Last week at Leadership Conference in San Antonio, Cornerstone Credit Union League Executive Vice President Karen Hart announced that the Credit Unions Care campaign has, since its inception in June, raised more than $20,000.

"But we still have much work to do," Hart said. "If every Cornerstone credit union would contribute $200, we would surpass the $100,000 mark. Imagine what that money could do for those little ones who really need our help. Imagine what a real difference we can make."

Hart recognized four Cornerstone credit unions for their outstanding efforts with the Credit Unions Care campaign to date:

  • With assets of less than $20M: Liberty County Teachers Federal Credit Union
  • With assets of $20M-$50M: First Class American Credit Union
  • With assets of $50M-$100M: Diamond Lakes Credit Union
  • And with assets of $100M+: Lone Star Credit Union

Hart challenged credit unions to raise $200 each. "We need to raise awareness in the public so everyone knows all the good that you do in the communities," she told conference attendees. "If we can put a smile on someone’s face, we know we are doing something right."

Cornerstone also extends a special thanks to the Credit Unions Care campaign sponsors that made this campaign a reality: CUNA Mutual Group, CO-OP Financial Services, Credit Union Resources, Cornerstone Credit Union League, and Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation. Their support has made this campaign a reality.

We're currently in Phase II of the campaign, which means that fundraising for Children's Miracle Network continues with the CU Ride Motorcycle Tour and heightening awareness in the business sector. We want to let our credit union members and friends in commerce know how we can be their trusted financial partners.

Phase Three is spreading the word even further. This campaign is not restricted to the Cornerstone region. Like our credit union movement, it's traveling beyond our regional borders. Credit Unions Care is a movement within a movement.
