CRCU Holds Employee Christmas Gift Drive for Lamar Elementary
Monday, December 18, 2017 7:00 AM

CRCU Elementary Drive

In the Partners in Education program, sponsored by the Baytown Chamber of Commerce, the employees of Community Resource Credit Union (CRCU) achieved the largest Christmas gift drive in its 23-year educational partnership with Lamar Elementary School. The CRCU staff purchased, wrapped, and presented gifts to Lamar Elementary students that will make their Christmas holiday special.

Each year, the employees of CRCU adopt selected students and their siblings to make sure these children have gifts to unwrap on Christmas morning. However, with Hurricane Harvey bringing several displaced families to Lamar Elementary, the CRCU staff knew it was more important than ever to give these children a very special holiday.

CRCU delivered more than 15 bicycles, a dollhouse, a hover board, a gaming system, thousands of dollars’ worth of clothes, jackets, shoes, and even a highchair for one student’s baby sister. Every item on the children’s wish lists was provided, plus additional gifts. In all, 101 well-deserving students and siblings will have an extra reason to smile this Christmas holiday.

“All of these heartfelt Christmas presents were made entirely possible by the generous team members of CRCU,” said David Frazier, CRCU president and CEO. “This charitable act of kindness to children in need by the CRCU employees is just another great example of why our team members are a shining community example.”
