Cornerstone Welcomes Valwood Park FCU to its Family of Credit Unions
Friday, March 4, 2016 7:00 AM

Cornerstone Credit Union League is delighted to announce that Valwood Park Federal Credit Union has re-affiliated this year, and is now eligible for all the membership benefits the association provides, including advocacy, asset/liability management, chapter and council programs, compliance and regulatory guidance and support, communications and outreach, league representatives, research, small credit union development, and training and events.

"During our recent NCUA exam," said Tammy Perkins, CEO of Valwood Park FCU, "we were told we needed some help with our policies—specifically to adopt a few new ones, clean up some existing ones, and get some compliance assistance. Our NCUA examiner, Yvonne, recommended I join the Cornerstone Credit Union League to get the assistance I needed. She indicated the League has many resources that would benefit me and would be useful to my credit union."

"I don’t get out to conferences and seminars much because of our size, and the League has many resources available that can be used in-house," said Perkins. "I took my examiner’s recommendation and joined the League. I am now am able to utilize all the tools and services the League offers and get the help I need."

"We are excited to welcome Valwood Park FCU to the Cornerstone family," said Cornerstone SVP Credit Union Relations Mike Delker. "I view it as a validation of our commitment to advancing the success of all credit unions, and I am very pleased they are once again a member. I am also grateful that the NCUA recognizes the benefit of league membership as well and very much appreciate the reinforcement of this to the credit union."

Originally chartered in 1974, Valwood Park FCU is located in Carrollton, Texas. The credit union has since grown to $19 million in assets and serves more than 350 companies. Their field of membership includes people, businesses, and other legal entities that live, work, worship, or attend school in Carrollton, Farmers Branch, and Addison.
