Cornerstone Reminds You to Take Action Now: Support Amodei-Aguilar Amendment on NCUA
Wednesday, September 13, 2017 7:00 AM

Cornerstone and CUNA continue to encourage all credit unions to press elected officials to support the bipartisan Amodei-Aguilar amendment on NCUA. The Amodei-Aguilar amendment would prevent the NCUA from being put under the appropriations process, a move which would effectively be a tax on credit unions.

The House could vote on an appropriations bill (HR 3354), which would include such a provision in the coming days.

An amendment to the bill, offered by Reps. Mark Amodei (R-Nev.) and Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.), would remove that language from HR 3354. Cornerstone and CUNA support that bill and issued an action alert last week for credit union stakeholders to contact their elected officials to support the Amodei-Aguilar amendment.

"I assure you your involvement can literally make the difference," said CUNA President and CEO Jim Nussle. "These are the moments we need to flex our advocacy muscle. These are the moments we need to remind our lawmakers when they consider credit union issues that we are ACTIVE in the political process."
