Cornerstone Moves its Dec. 16 Compliance Review Seminar to New Location to Accommodate More People
Friday, November 22, 2013 6:35 AM

With a growing waiting list for the Cornerstone Credit Union League’s Dec. 16 Compliance Review Seminar, Cornerstone is moving the location of the seminar in order to accommodate more people.  The seminar will now be held in Neighborhood CU’s training room, located at 13651 Montfort Drive in Dallas. While the seminar is moving to a larger venue, credit unions should secure a seat quickly if they wish to take advantage of this one-day program.

Because of the popularity of this seminar, Cornerstone is also adding an additional location. The seminar will be offered Jan. 28 in Houston. Additional information, including location and registration, will be available on Cornerstone’s website by Monday.

As credit unions are well aware, Texas statute changes take effect in 2014, and these changes affect many areas of the share account side of the credit union. All of these changes and the normal account opening procedures will be covered during this program.

Highlights include:

  • New format for the account card regarding convenience signers.
  • Greater detail in the multiple party law on set-off and rights to pay debts at death.
  • POA form and description. In the old law your member checked off the powers that applied. Now the new statute, the member crosses off the ones that do not apply.
  • Minor statute for credit unions allowing the minor to be treated as an adult in share accounts.
  • Guardianships and the duties and rights of guardians and the expiration duties.

Additional information on the Dec. 16 seminar, including registration, can be found on the Compliance Review Seminars page.
