Cornerstone Honors Chapters at Annual Awards Dinner

At Cornerstone's recent Annual Meeting, a number of standout chapters were recognized with awards for their substantial contributions to the success of the credit union movement in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Please join us in congratulating all the winners. Cornerstone is proud of their efforts to be politically engaged in support of the credit union movement.

These awards were presented to those chapters earning the highest number of points within their designated grouping.

Group 1 includes chapters with up to 10 credit unions. The winner of the Chapter of the Year for Group 1 was the El Paso Chapter.

El Paso Chap Bob Peterson
One Source FCU President/CEO Bob Peterson accepts the award for Chapter of the Year, Group 1, for the El Paso Chapter.

Group 2 encompasses chapters with 11 to 20 credit unions. The winner of the Chapter of the Year award for Group 2 was the Permian Basin Chapter.

Complex Community FCU President/CEO accepts the award for Chapter of the Year, Group 2, for the Permian Basin Chapter.

Group 3 comprises chapters with more than 21 credit unions. The winner of the Chapter of the Year for Group 3 was the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions.

Houston Highway CU President/CEO Craig Atkinson accepts the award for Chapter of the Year, Group 3, for the Houston Chapter of Credit Unions.

This year, Cornerstone presented special achievement awards for Political and Regulatory Advocacy and for Community Involvement and System Support.

The Special Achievement Award for Political and Regulatory Advocacy went to the Green Country Chapter

Green Country Doug Aldrich
TTCU the Credit Union EVP Operations Doug Aldrich accepts the Special Achievement Award for Political and Regulatory Advocacy for the Green Country Chapter.

Oklahoma Credit Union Association President Nate Webb said, "This award is well deserved. Throughout the year, the Green Country Chapter has effectively spread the credit union message by hosting an impressive array of elected officials and candidates. In short, the Green Country Chapter is embracing the spirit of aggressive advocacy for the betterment of Oklahoma credit unions."

For Community Involvement and System Support, the Special Achievement Award went to the Fort Worth Chapter.

American Airlines FCU Government Relations Manager Walter Furnace accepts the Special Achievement Award for Community Involvement and System Support for the Fort Worth Chapter.

Cornerstone VP Political Affairs Gretchen Ziegler said, "I would like to congratulate all the chapters who were recognized at the Annual Meeting, and also those who took the time to submit their nominations. While these awards recognize only a few of the 34 chapters within the Cornerstone region, we know that all chapters provide the perfect venue to work collaboratively to promote advocacy, community involvement, and leadership development among the young professionals across the Cornerstone region."
