As a result of the Credit Union Development Education (CUDE) Advisory Committee election, the National Credit Union Foundation has announced some new members. Some are appointed and others have been elected, and Cornerstone is pleased to report that among the elected is our own Executive Vice President Karen Hart.

"We are so pleased to have Karen join the Credit Union Development Education Advisory Committee," said Lois Kitsch, CUDE, national program director for the Foundation. "She is committed to the DE program and exemplifies what DE is all about. Though a skeptic when she joined the class, she graduated with a new vision for herself in credit unions and has gone on to do amazing work in her DE projects. We look forward to her insight and visionary ideas for the DE Program which will benefit more than 2000 US DEs."

"I am honored to be elected from a group of my DE peers to serve on the Advisory Committee for the CUDE program," said Cornerstone EVP and newly elected Advisory Committee member Karen Hart. "The CUDE or DE program made a significant impact on my life, and I am so excited that I have the opportunity to give back in some way."

"The program, in my opinion, is a tribute to our wonderful cooperative movement, and it reminds us all that we are here to serve for the good of others," Hart continued. "I love that DE helped me understand the cooperative principals and gives us the guiding steps that can change the world one person at a time. On a final note, I did graduate from the BEST CLASS EVER—Winter 2015!"

About the DE Program
The mission of the Credit Union Development Education (DE) program is to promote credit unions’ social responsibility and domestic and international development through interactive adult education and professional networking. By linking credit unions’ past and present, the DE program brings renewed relevance to credit unions’ seven cooperative principles and the philosophy of “People Helping People.”

Since 1982, more than 1,600 credit union advocates from over 35 countries have graduated from DE Training to become Credit Union Development Educators (CUDEs). Once they earn their CUDE designation, people return to their jobs with a sense of personal enrichment and renewed energy to share what they have learned. This growing corps of credit union advocates devotes professional and volunteer time to spreading the credit union message to audiences throughout the country.
