The Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation will host its FOCUS Summit Feb. 6-7, 2014, at the Doubletree Galleria Hotel in Dallas. Open to all credit union professionals, community leaders and educators, this two-day event is an opportunity for financial education advocates to network, share best practices, learn about available resources, as well as explore proven techniques and strategies for deploying financial education into their local schools and communities.
Highlights of the 2014 program include a keynote address from Jean Chatzky, an author and financial editor for NBC’s Today Show, as well as a performance by The Disclosures: Musicians with a Mission, featuring songs from their new financial education CD. Lois Kitsch, REAL Solutions national program manager with the National Credit Union Foundation, will conduct a full Life Simulation, an innovative simulation designed to help credit union and credit union organization staff understand the difficulties that families living in poverty face.
Attendees will also receive updates on recent financial education legislation, learn how to make a difference in their communities with 3 easy Tips for Success, and receive an introduction to new National Endowment for Financial Education (NEFE) tools that can be used to engage others in financial education.
Foundation FOCUS is a collaborative initiative that allows the Foundation to diversely impact communities. As part of Foundation FOCUS, the Foundation created the Foundation FOCUS Network, people working together to improve the financial well-being in their communities, from preschool to adulthood.
