Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation Makes a Difference in One CU Employee's Life
Friday, June 6, 2014 6:55 AM

When Sarah Rosas of Generations FCU received an educational grant from the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation to attend a Credit Union National Association conference in Los Angeles, Calif., she knew she would be traveling to a place she had never been, and she would be attending a training program where she knew no one. But she embraced the opportunity with open arms.

“It was a little overwhelming at first, but such an amazing experience. I got to meet and greet with credit union executives from across the nation and it really broadened my horizons,” she said. “And I got to experience this because the Cornerstone Foundation read my story and granted my wish.”

While at the conference, Rosas said she shook as many hands as possible and exchanged contact information with everyone she had a conversation with. She was exposed to so much knowledge, insights and ideas that on the last day of the conference, Rosas says she worried how she could possibly remember everything, or decide which idea(s) she should implement at the credit union.

Rosas says she was so inspired by everything she experienced at the conference, and is appreciative of the foundation for allowing her the opportunity to attend the program.

“My advice to other young professionals who are looking for career advancement would be to become involved with your local credit union chapter, and jump on any networking events within the organization to find opportunities such as this one that are once in a life time experiences,” she said.
