Cornerstone Committed to Helping Small CUs Succeed
Thursday, October 31, 2013 6:50 AM

Sixty-seven percent of the credit unions in the Cornerstone region are $50 million and under in assets; therefore, the Cornerstone Credit Union League has dedicated many resources to help small credit unions grow and prosper.

On the Cornerstone website, credit unions will find a “Small Credit Union Resources” section. And in this section, credit unions will find among other things a “Check it Out Library.” The Check it out Library offers an extensive library of focused-training in areas such as:

  • Fraud and identity theft
  • Loan marketing strategies
  • Business development
  • Asset/liability management (ALM)
  • Fundamentals of HR
  • Opening new accounts
  • Basic accounting
  • Developing leadership
  • Successful collections
  • Loan underwriting
  • Growth strategies
  • Money & negotiable instruments
  • And more.

In addition to the Check it out Library, Cornerstone offers small credit union workshops, and the 2014 schedule will be available soon. Cornerstone also has a Small Credit Union Committee, and this diverse group of small credit union professionals helps keep Cornerstone abreast of the issues and needs of the small credit union community.

“We strive to provide useful information and resources to help our small credit unions thrive in the competitive financial services industry,” says Linda Winkfein, vice president of small credit union development. “Through our Small Credit Union Forum, for example, we are able to offer a forum for the sharing of ideas and best practices.”

Small credit unions are encouraged to learn what resources and information are available to them by visiting the “Small Credit Union Resources” section of Cornerstone’s website.
