Cornerstone Awards CUs at Leadership Conference
Monday, September 14, 2015 7:00 AM

Last week at the Cornerstone Leadership Conference and Expo, credit unions were honored for their efforts, above and beyond the average. These awards are important because they recognize the vital work credit unions do in their communities and to help families achieve their financial goals. Because credit unions are also actively involved in solving social issues and generating social and economic change, they are truly their members' financial partners.

Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Awards

The Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Community Service Award recognizes credit unions for their community outreach programs and for charitable work that is directed outside or extended beyond a credit union’s membership. The award recipients are divided into asset categories, and the winners are:

  • First place $200M-$500M: FAA Credit Union
  • First place $500M-$1B: Smart Financial Credit Union
  • Second place $500M-$1B: Generations Federal Credit Union
  • Second place $1B+: Tinker Federal Credit Union
  • Third place $50M-$100M: RGV Credit Union
  • Honorable Mention $1B+: Security Service Federal Credit Union

Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Member Service Award

The Louise Herring Philosophy in Action Member Service Award honors credit unions for the practical application of our “people helping people” philosophy within the credit union. It is awarded for extraordinary internal programs focused on the membership and creative services that benefit members. There were two first-place winners this year, both in the asset category of $250 million to $1 billion.

  • Generations Federal Credit Union
  • FAA Credit Union

Desjardins Youth and Adult Financial Education Awards

Credit unions are champions of financial literacy, and the Desjardins Youth and Adult Financial Education Awards recognize leadership within the credit union movement on behalf of youth and adult financial literacy.

This year, we have a first-place winner in each state for the Desjardins Youth Award.

  • Arkansas $50-$500M: Diamond Lakes Federal Credit Union
  • Oklahoma $500M+: Tinker Federal Credit Union
  • Texas $500M+: Generations Federal Credit Union

And for the Desjardins adult award, winners:

  • Second Place $500M+

Cornerstone offers heartfelt congratulations to all of our most deserving award winners.
