Congress Returns to DC for Final Push
Monday, December 1, 2014 6:05 AM

Congress returns this week to make its final "lame duck" session push before adjournment (the last meeting of the 113th Congress).

Last week, before Thanksgiving break, Credit Union National Association was meeting with members of the Senate and the House aimed at advancing legislation that removes barriers to credit union service. In particular, they are working with the Senate to advance a House-passed bill that would extend share insurance coverage to lawyer trust accounts (IOLTAs) and similar trust accounts, as well as a House-passed measure making privately insured credit unions eligible to join the Federal Home Loan Bank system.

CUNA President/CEO Jim Nussle reports that the situation on Capitol Hill is fluid as Congress approaches adjournment, but they are actively engaged on these bills and other key credit union priorities.
