True Sky gives back to the community during pandemic

by Cornerstone Credit Union League | May 20, 2020

True Sky Credit Union’s employee volunteer program, called the Sky Crew, focuses on giving back to the communities it serves through random acts of kindness. These efforts have been especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“As we continue to monitor the impact of the coronavirus (COVID-19), we wanted to assure our members that True Sky Credit Union is here to serve their needs and the needs of our communities,” said True Sky Credit Union President/CEO Sean M. Cahill. “Our Sky Crew is just one way we fulfill this mission.”

Some of the Sky Crew’s recent activities include:

  • Placing 10,000 well-check calls to the credit union’s most vulnerable members, seeing how they are doing, offering to help with groceries and medication, or just being on the phone with them during this quarantine-driven isolation. Members have responded positively to these efforts.
  • Lending a hand in a grocery store in Yukon, Okla., paying for $5,000 in groceries and assisting 100 customers with their groceries for more than two hours.
  • Working with a local singer/songwriter to develop a special message to the credit union’s 2020 high school graduates. To view the video.
  • Paying for and pumping gas at a local gas station for over an hour.
  •  Delivering toilet paper and other supplies to neighborhood children’s and community centers.
  • Handing out gift cards and providing curbside service at a Cinco De Mayo event in partnership with a local food truck. To view the video.
  • Providing snacks and drinks for the Oklahoma City Police Department.
  •  Dropping off barbecue for the city of Mustang Police Department.
