Communication FCU Partners with Survive-A-Storm Shelters to Give Away Four Free Storm Shelters
Monday, March 23, 2015 7:00 AM

Communication Federal Credit Union, one of Oklahoma’s largest credit unions, is partnering with Survive-A-Storm Shelters to give away four free storm shelters during March and April. These above-ground shelters, known as twister pods, will be on display at selected CFCU branches during the event.

The first drawing will be held on March 20, with a new winner drawn every week for four weeks. Participants can register at comfedcu.org/WinAShelter. The Survive-A-Storm shelters are constructed of steel and have passed rigorous testing. They are designed to provide near absolute protection against EF5 tornado winds.

CFCU was the first financial institution in Oklahoma to initiate affordable storm shelter loans. The program began in 2008 after an outbreak of damaging tornados. CFCU continues to be the leader in providing low-interest, affordable shelter loans to the community.

"The credit union motto is people helping people," says CFCU President/CEO Larry Shropshire. "We definitely see the need for all Oklahomans to have shelters in order to protect them from our deadly weather. Our hope is that this program will help save lives."

Communication Federal Credit Union has headquarters in Oklahoma City and was founded in 1939. It has more than 65,000 members and a billion dollars in assets. The credit union has grown to include 20 branch locations in two states. It is among the strongest financial institutions in the nation, having received the prestigious five-star rating from Bauer Financial Reports, Inc. for 25 consecutive years.
