The D'Feet Breast Cancer Celebration of Life events—5K and 10K Run, 10K Walk, and 1K 4 Kids—are all happening this Saturday, Oct. 24, at Moody Gardens on Galveston Island, Texas.

Raising money and walking the event for the fifth year in a row is our own Coastal Community Federal Credit Union (CCFCU). CCFCU President/CEO Carol Gaylord issues a fervent plea to all credit unions: "Please help support CCFCU D'Feet Breast Cancer!"

The fundraiser promotes early detection awareness and education, and provides free screening mammograms and free diagnostics to uninsured and underserved Galveston Women ages 40-64, as well as those at high risk for breast cancer.

Gaylord notes that the D'Feet Walk has been one of her credit union's favorite outreach programs. "This year, for me personally," she said, "it is inreach. Outreach is when you reach out and touch the hearts of others. Inreach is when it reaches in and touches yours."

Gaylord goes on to say that her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer in December 2014 and is currently undergoing chemotherapy. "She has one more chemo session before her radiation treatment begins," Gaylord said. "She is a fighter and inreach of a cure because of early breast cancer detection."
