Coastal Bend Chapter of Credit Union board members made this last Valentine’s Day special by offering Random Acts of Kindness to residents impacted by Hurricane Harvey. The board members positioned themselves in three of the hardest hit areas, including Rockport, Port Aransas, and Aransas Pass, and randomly distributed $50 gift cards to residents.

Board members determined Feb. 14 would be the ideal day for local credit unions to offer support to the communities they serve. Gina Prince, president of the Coastal Bend Chapter of Credit Unions, said, “This was a wonderful opportunity to give back to our members, friends, and neighbors in the Coastal Bend.”

In all, the chapter handed out $3,000 in H-E-B and IGA Grocery gift cards to residents and organizations supporting Hurricane Harvey relief efforts.

The Coastal Bend Chapter of Credit Unions (cbchaptercu.org) is an advocacy group comprised of the 21 credit unions located within the counties of Nueces, San Patricio, Kleberg, Aransas, and Jim Wells. Their mission is to provide unity and collaboration in a cooperative spirit among Coastal Bend credit unions.
