Check Out our Check-It-Out Library for Credit Unions Under $35M
Wednesday, January 15, 2014 6:50 AM

The Cornerstone Credit Union League offers a wealth of resources to credit unions to help them succeed. Mike Delker, Cornerstone senior vice president of credit union relations, says one of the many resources offered through our Small Credit Union Development Department is the Check-It-Out Library.

“This is a very inexpensive resource that provides on-going educational opportunities and convenient access to credit union books, webinars, and DVDs,” notes Delker.

Lorri Gaither, assistant vice president of the Small Credit Union Development, explains that there is no charge with the exception of shipping the items back to Cornerstone. The service is available to affiliated credit unions under $35 million in assets.

“Of course, I will be the first to encourage small credit union leaders to get out when possible to conferences, seminars, small credit union meetings, and workshops. Having the ability to network with other industry leaders and ask questions is invaluable,” says Gaither. “However, for a small credit union with limited staff and budget, this is a great option to supplement their training needs.”

Linda Landry, CEO of the $9.1M Southeast Texas FCU located in Orange, Texas is a frequent user of the Check-It-Out Library.

“When I order the webinars, it is quick and easy! We receive them in a timely manner and it is so easy to send them back” she says. “It is so wonderful to have the ability to access such a wide variety of books, webinars, and DVD’s to keep us up-to-date on the latest rules and regulations. We have used the training for our employees, board of directors, and committee members.”

Tandie Kenser, CEO of the $3.5M Garland County Educators FCU in Hot Springs, Arkansas is a new user of the Check-It-Out Library.

“Since learning of this small credit union resource, I have already checked out several webinars. This very low-cost training resource has been a lifeline for our credit union, providing access to education that allows me to be more efficient and knowledgeable. The Check it Out Library allows me to train when and where it is convenient for me,” adds Kenser.

There are over 300 items available in the Check-It-Out Library that cover a variety of topics. Some sample topics are listed below:

  • Job-Specific BSA Training for Lenders
  • Understanding Credit Union Financial Statements: For Directors & Volunteers
  • Lending Questions Supervisory Committee Members Should be Asking
  • Vendor Due Diligence & Effective Vendor Management
