Chapter Leaders—The Importance of Political Engagement
Friday, October 2, 2015 6:30 AM

Chapter Leaders Conference

The theme for this year's Chapter Leaders Conference, which takes place Nov. 12-13 at the Credit Union House in Oklahoma City, is "Moving Forward—Together." One way to move forward is through advocacy. This year's conference will emphasize the importance of political engagement, with a special keynote presentation from Senator Dan Newberry.

Having been elected to the Oklahoma State Senate in November 2008, Newberry knows a little bit about politics. He currently serves in the Republican leadership as Majority Whip and chairman of the Business and Commerce Committee. He also serves as a member of five standing committees: Appropriations, Appropriations on Subcommittee on Health and Human Services, Business and Commerce, Health and Human Services, and Transportation.

Newberry is third generation Tulsan and was a professional business manager in the mortgage banking industry for fourteen years. Newberry is also a member of the Sand Springs Chamber of Commerce and the Rotary Club.

Don't miss the Chapter Leaders Conference, where chapter leaders come together to network, learn best practices, and share ideas on how to bring value to local credit unions and positively impact their respective communities via the chapter program.

The deadline for hotel reservations at the discounted group rate is Monday, Oct. 12.
