CFPB Issues Reference Chart for HMDA Data Collection Points
Wednesday, October 18, 2017 6:45 AM

This week, CFPB published Reportable HMDA Data: A Regulatory and Reporting Overview Reference Chart, a tool for data points required to be collected, recorded, and reported under the Home Mortgage Disclosure Act (HMDA). The chart combines a reportable data chart summary, the filing instructions from the 2018 filing instructions guide, and info on when to report "not applicable."

In general, the CFPB's final HMDA rule changes are set to take effect Jan. 1, with most data submissions under the new provisions due in 2019. The rule changes affect home equity lines of credit, establish transactional thresholds for coverage, and expand the number of HMDA data points to be collected from credit unions.

CFPB also updated the chart on the collection and reporting of HMDA information about ethnicity and race and published a revised filing instructions guide for data collected in 2018 that reflects updates to the automated underwriting system, among other clarifications.

Last week, the CFPB updated its HMDA small-entity compliance guide.
