Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month, Become a Juntos Avanzamos CU
Monday, September 19, 2016 7:00 AM

Are you celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month? Hispanics are a large and vibrant part of the US economy. The purchasing power of the Hispanic community in the US is projected to reach $1.7 trillion by 2017.

At 17 percent of the population, Hispanics are the largest and fastest growing minority group in the US. Hispanics also make up the largest immigrant population in the US. Serving immigrants is a sustainable business strategy for credit unions and vital to fulfilling our collective goal of helping people of modest means achieve financial independence.

There are 52 Juntos Avanzamos credit unions in the United States, 22 of which were gained just since its national launch in September 2015. Juntos Avanzamos is now present in 12 states, serves more than 4 million consumers, and delivers financial services through 597 community branches.

Interested in becoming a Juntos Avanzamos credit union? Contact Pablo DeFilippi, Federation VP of membership and Business Development, at All credit unions interested in receiving the Juntos Avanzamos designation must complete an application documenting their commitment and service to Hispanic members.

Click here for a Juntos Avanzamos application. Applications are reviewed by a selection committee of Juntos Avanzamos members, including Sherry Cordonnier (Travis CU), Brenda Dominguez (Guadalupe CU), Suzy Fonseca (Lower Valley CU), Lisa Leeper (Tinker FCU) and Luis Soto (Vantage West CU).
