Caprock FCU Donation to Myranda's Closet
Dale Hansard, CEO of Caprock Federal Credit Union, presents a $2,300 check for Myranda’s Closet to Dawson Medical Foundation Executive Director Melissa Matlock.

Caprock Federal Credit Union recently presented a check for $2,300 to Myranda's Closet, a charity at the Medical Arts Hospital that provides toys, books, games, movies, and other items to young patients staying in the hospital.

The check presentation was made at the recent Caprock Federal Credit Union Annual Meeting. Since 2013, Caprock members have donated $7,600 to Myranda’s Closet.

Myranda's Closet is named in honor of Myranda Alambar, who passed away in 2009 from Cerebral Palsy when she was only 11. While Myranda was spending a lot of time in the hospital, her mother Valerie Hilburn noticed that the hospital had nothing for the small children to play with that might help them pass the time or keep their minds off the pain they were enduring. Hilburn wanted any future hospital stays for children to be more comfortable and fun, so she founded Myranda's Closet.

During the Christmas holidays, eligible Caprock members are offered the opportunity to pay a fee for a feature called "skip a payment" on loans to help them during the holidays. The credit union receives a great response from their members, and Caprock gives half the proceeds of every skipped payment to Myranda's Closet.

Myranda’s Closet accepts monetary or toy donations at the hospital. Guidelines on donations apply due to infection-control guidelines. All donations made to Myranda's Closet are tax deductible.
