Burleson and TCCU Raise Heart Health Awareness
Tuesday, May 2, 2017 6:50 AM

For Melissa Burleson's CUDE project, the staff of Tarrant County’s Credit Union and other county residents teamed up with the American Heart Association, Carter Blood Care, and the Tarrant Regional Water District.

Burleson is business development coordinator for TCCU. Since completing her CUDE training in the spring of 2015, she's been busy organizing monthly activities in service to her community. Burleson doesn't just talk the talk; she lives the credit union difference, and we're seeing no signs of her stopping.

In the first quarter of 2017, Burleson has already accomplished a lot. To kick off January 2017, employees of TCCU sold paper hearts to raise funds for the American Heart Association and raise “heart health” awareness. TCCU raised $88 for AHA.

February brought forth the challenge of saving lives. TCCU, along with other employees of Tarrant County, participated in the second Annual BIG Give blood drive where volumes of blood were collected and donated to Cater Blood Care.

On March 18, TCCU partnered with Tarrant Regional Water District to collect 2,000 pounds of trash along Eagle Mountain Lake.

"Being a part of a credit union is not just about opening accounts and lending funds," Burleson noted. "It’s about the cooperative spirit and giving back and reaching out to the communities we serve."

TCCU is an $82 million credit union serving more than 10,000 members throughout Tarrant County, Texas. TCCU operates four branches located in Fort Worth, Hurst, Lake Worth, and Arlington.
