Budget Bill Goes to Texas House Floor for Debate Tuesday
Monday, March 30, 2015 7:00 AM

The Texas House Appropriations Committee unanimously approved a budget plan for the 2016-2017 biennium. The approved committee substitute going to the floor would fund the government at $209 billion for the biennium. The bill is a $7.7 billion increase over the current 2014-2015 budget. Currently, it is more than $8 billion under the Comptroller’s revenue estimate, which could be used to reduce property taxes or the franchise tax.

The appropriations bill now heads to the House floor, where is it expected to be debated by the full House on Tuesday, March 31.
