Tuesday, July 16, 2013 8:40 AM

National Credit Union Administration (NCUA) Board Chairman Debbie Matz announces the selection of Matthew Biliouris as the Deputy Director in the Office of Consumer Protection. Biliouris will assume his new post August 11, 2013. He most recently served as the Director, Division of Supervision, in NCUA’s Office of Examination and Insurance.

“Matt Biliouris is an excellent choice for this new job,” Matz said. “With his considerable knowledge of NCUA’s operations and our examination program, and his solid experience dealing with the policy issues affecting credit unions, Matt will hit the ground running to solve problems and produce results. He will be an important asset to this consumer-focused office that is central to our mission.”

NCUA Board Member Michael E. Fryzel also welcomed Biliouris to his new position.

“Matt Biliouris has done an outstanding job in all the positions he has held at NCUA,” Fryzel said. “While I served as Chairman, Matt was on my staff and proved to be an invaluable asset. His good work has continued during his tenure in the Office of Examination and Insurance. His knowledge of credit unions, the rules that govern them and his vast experience at NCUA will enable him to continue his fine work in our Office of Consumer Protection.”

Biliouris joined NCUA in 1992 as an examiner in Portland, Maine. Prior to beginning his current job in the Office of Examination and Insurance, Biliouris was the Special Assistant to NCUA’s Executive Director handling important policy and strategic matters. He previously served as a supervision analyst, information systems officer and program officer. Biliouris also completed several details, most notably a year-long assignment as Special Assistant to former NCUA Chairman and current Board Member Fryzel.

Biliouris graduated with distinction from the University of Rhode Island in 1991 with a degree in business administration and a major in accounting.
