Through the Cornerstone Credit Union League’s REAL Solutions program and the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation, credit union staffs have an opportunity to take advantage of a Financial Counseling Certification Program (FiCEP).

This unique financial counseling training program combines the low cost and convenience of a self-study program with the group hands-on learning and networking of an off-site school.

Seating is limited to first 40 registrants.
Deadline to register is April 22
.

The self-study guide that includes bi-weekly group webinars is divided into two parts:

  • Part I Guided self-study
    • Introduction to Financial Counseling (module 1)
    • Financial Counseling Essentials (module 2)
    • Special Issues in Financial Counseling (module 3)
    • Using Communication Skills during Financial Counseling (module 4)

  • FiCEP Part II Guided self-study
    • Taxes, Insurance, and Investments (module 5)
    • Controlling Living Expenses and Understanding Consumer Credit (module 6)
    • Matching Values to Money (module 7)
    • Retirement and Special Issues (module 8)

Two live group training sessions will take place after Part I and Part II webinars. Sessions will include group review, test preparation, coaching to help participants develop a vision and plan for your credit union, and proctored testing.

Cornerstone and the Foundation have provided funds to cover all program costs. Students are responsible for their study materials, as well as transportation to and from live group training sessions.

Study materials are available at a discounted rate of $390 per student. If two students share a set of books, the second student pays $240. Cornerstone will order students’ books from CUNA. Credit unions will be invoiced for all materials. All materials will be shipped directly to respective credit unions.
