Be a Crasher at the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference
Monday, December 4, 2017 6:55 AM

Calling all young professionals in Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas! Don't miss this rare opportunity to crash the CUNA Governmental Affairs Conference. By popular demand, the application period for Crash the GAC 2018 has been extended. But don't delay; all applications must be submitted by Friday, Dec. 8, at 11:59 p.m. CST.

The Cooperative Trust, in partnership with the Credit Union National Association, is recruiting three young professionals who would like to be part of Crash the GAC 2018. Cornerstone Credit Union League is offering a $500 scholarship for the selected crashers, and one crasher will be chosen from each of Cornerstone's states of Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Every crasher will receive a full free conference registration from CUNA.

"Crash the GAC 2017 was an experience unlike any other experience I've professionally had in 20 years of working," said Michael C. Armstrong, chief financial officer of Alcoa Community Federal Credit Union in Benton, Ark. "It is an eye-opening week of networking and education that has helped me make an impact as a young professional in my institution and the CU movement as a whole. The knowledge gained and networking of peers from across the country is worth every penny of investment in a young professional."

Crash the GAC will bring young credit union professionals together from across the country. Those individuals will run a tailored program alongside the main GAC event and allow for mentor sessions with key individuals, who in the past have hailed from the National Credit Union Foundation, Credit Union National Association, Filene Research Institute, and CUNA Mutual Group.

“The commitment from the Cornerstone League, as well as CUNA and The Cooperative Trust, to the Crash the GAC program says a great deal about the importance of young adults in the credit union system,” said Cornerstone Senior Vice President Mike Delker. "Engagement in advocacy issues early in one’s career helps provide young professionals with the right knowledge to support their credit unions as they become our CEOs of the future. With a reach across the whole of the United States, Crash the GAC brings a diverse group of future leaders to the forefront of credit unions at one of the movement’s premier events.”
