Auto Sales March 2013
Wednesday, April 24, 2013 6:25 AM

In March, more than 3,675,000 vehicles were sold in the United States, nearly 220,000 more than in March of 2012. The leading manufacturers by market share in the U.S. are General Motors (18.1 percent), Ford (15.9 percent), Toyota (14.4 percent), Chrysler (11.6 percent), Honda (9.2 percent), Nissan (8.7 percent), Hyundai (4.5 percent), Kia (3.5 percent), Volkswagen (2.7 percent), and Subaru (2.5 percent).

The average new vehicle-selling price was $31,384, about $1,000 higher than one year ago.

Economists predict 15 million vehicles will be sold in the U.S. this year. However, that dwarfs in comparison to China sales.

General Motors executives said they expect annual China auto sales to balloon to about 35 million vehicles by 2022, which would make the market bigger than the U.S. and Europe combined. They believe China is going to outpace all the markets around the world beginning this year.
