Twenty-five credit union CEOS, staff, and volunteers from 11 credit unions participated in the inaugural "Day at the Legislature" for the Arkansas Credit Union Association on Wednesday, March 25. The event was the first ever hosted by the Arkansas State Governmental Affairs Subcommittee.

Arkansas Credit Union Association President Reta Kahley said the group met at the Association office and traveled to the State Capitol where they attended legislative committee meetings for both the House of Representatives and the State Senate. Following the committee meetings, the group participated in a luncheon in the State Capitol Cafeteria.

Arkansas’ new Attorney General Lesley Rutledge spoke to the group about the purpose and scope of the AG's office, and then Senator Bill Samples (R-Hot Springs) addressed the group about the 90th General Assembly. The event concluded with visits to the House of Representatives and the Senate in the afternoon.

Arkansas State Governmental Affairs Subcommittee Chairman Terry Tucker said, "We are excited that we have the opportunity to educate and engage our credit union staff and volunteers about the legislative process at the state level. We hope to make this an annual event."
