AR CU Association Meets Rep. Hill

The Arkansas Credit Union Association met with Congressman French Hill on Wednesday, Sept, 2, in Little Rock. The group discussed overdraft protection, the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, and mortgage lending disclosure rules with the Congressman.

Those in attendance included:  Kim Wiedower from Cooperative Extension Service FCU in Little Rock; Linda Jeffery from TruService Community FCU in Little Rock; Sharon Hearnsberger from Henderson State University in Arkadelphia; Terry Tucker from Pine FCU in Pine Bluff; Debbie Gatlin from Pine FCU in Pine Bluff; Windy Campbell from Arkansas Employees FCU in Little Rock; and Jennifer Webb from Union Pacific of Arkansas FCU in Little Rock. Also in attendance were governmental affairs consultant and lobbyist Ron Harrod and his wife Claudetta and Arkansas Credit Union Association President Reta Kahley.

Cornerstone Credit Union League’s Governmental Affairs Chair Windy Campbell said, “These visits with our senators and congressmen are vitally important to Cornerstone’s overall governmental affairs plan. Staying in touch with them when they are home during recess keeps our issues at the forefront.”

“Congressman Hill has been very receptive to the needs of credit unions in the State of Arkansas,” said Kahley. “We have been very pleased with his commitment to common sense government.”
