April: A Month for Filing Taxes and Raising Funds for Financial Literacy
Thursday, April 6, 2017 6:30 AM

Financial Fitness Day

Tracy Florida, CUDE, Director, Partner Relations, Credit Union Resources

As we prepare our annual income taxes, complete the forms, and write a check to Uncle Sam, did you know that April is also National Financial Literacy Month in the United States? It’s a fantastic time to raise funds to support programs that assist with financial literacy and awareness.

The Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation does an amazing job with all of their fundraising and awareness efforts, not only year round, but especially during the month of April.

Each year, the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation kicks off Financial Literacy Month with Financial Fitness Day, an engaging, fun-filled educational event for everyone at the Cornerstone Credit Union League, Credit Union Resources, and Catalyst Corporate FCU staff. Employees are able to make a contribution and participate in an exciting event that includes an amazing cookout for lunch and an activity. If you’ve never heard of "penny wars," ask our Foundation staff for details… We’re having a blast!

There are many opportunities and methods with which to raise funds to support your own Financial Fitness Day (or fitness month) at your credit union or organization. Feel free to visit the Cornerstone Credit Union Foundation website for more information and ideas.

Financial Fitness Day is dedicated to helping credit union members get their financial health in shape. Find creative and fun ways to get in good financial health in the month of April, but don’t forget to finish your taxes!
