AMOCO FCU Doing its Part to Stop ID Theft
Monday, November 18, 2013 5:40 AM

AMOCO FCU is doing its part to help stop identity theft. Last week, the credit union teamed up with University of Houston-Clear Lake (UHCL) to hold the university’s first shred day.

For many years, AMOCO FCU has hosted free shred days for the community at their branches with help from the secure shredding program, Iron Mountain. Partnering up with UHCL enabled AMOCO FCU to reach out to the students and residents in the Clear Lake area to help them shred their important papers.

According to the credit union, more than 100 vehicles showed up for the three hour shred event to get rid of their vulnerable papers. Along with providing their campus to host the event, UHCL also provided volunteers to help assist.

“We believe it’s important to provide people within the community options to make them feel a sense of security, and getting into the habit of shredding important information is imperative,” notes AMOCO FCU president and CEO Shawn Bailey.
