AMOCO FCU Celebrates ICU Day—and Week!
Thursday, October 22, 2015 7:00 AM

AMOCO FCU Meet and Greet
Celebrating ICU Day, AMOCO FCU hosts its annual Political Meet & Greet with (l to r): Shawn Bailey, AMOCO FCU President/CEO; Sen. Larry Taylor; Texas Rep. Greg Bonnen; Congressman Randy Weber; and League City Mayor, Tim Paulissen.

Last week, credit unions rallied together to honor International Credit Union Day on Oct. 15. AMOCO Federal Credit Union dedicated an entire week to celebrating the movement by hosting various events starting on Tuesday, Oct. 13.

AMOCO FCU maintains a strong presence within the community, and their philosophy includes the importance of getting involved. As a credit union dedicated to the community it serves year-round, AMOCO staff were more than thrilled to help people during this annual celebration.

To kick off ICU week, AMOCO partnered with The Rose to offer mammogram screenings for the community. Next, AMOCO provided sweet treats to their members from Shiver Shack and Savannah’s Bakery from Wednesday through Friday.

On Thursday, the official ICU Day, AMOCO hosted its annual Political Meet & Greet. The Meet & Greet gives credit unions a chance to collaborate and network with lawmakers to promote credit unions and demonstrate the credit union difference. They invited the Galveston Chapter of Credit Unions, young professionals from local credit unions, and 25 elected officials and candidates from Galveston and Harris Counties. All total, more than 75 people attended.

To end the week, AMOCO held a Shred Day at their Bay Colony Branch, followed by their Member-to-Member Expo, which included shopping, music, food, face painting, and more.

“Even though we host events for the community year-round, dedicating a whole week to our community couldn’t be more rewarding," said AMOCO’s VP of culture and communications, Tina Foster. "We hope our community had just as much fun as we did, and I would like to thank all the businesses that teamed up with AMOCO to make this week possible.”
