ALM Essentials and Implementation Workshop Scheduled for May 21-22 in Corpus Christi

Credit Union Resources, Inc. is sponsoring an Asset Liability Management (ALM) Workshop May 21-22, in Corpus Christi. Members First CU will host the workshop at its 5444 South Staples Street location. The two-day program is divided into two sessions: Essentials and Implementation, and is presented by Howard Bufe of Credit Union Resources.

The Essentials workshop is designed to offer a better understanding of the ALM process, while the Implementation workshop examines more extensively how to implement an effective ALM process.

The Essentials ALM workshop is a full-day session designed for all credit union employees and board members who desire a better understanding of the basic ALM process. Some of the topics covered include:

  • Identifying the primary goals of Asset/Liability Management 
  • Understanding the ALM Resources’ ABAJO Key Ratio Report
  • Reviewing your credit union’s key financial ratios
  • Reviewing an expense analysis and its implications
  • Pricing loans and deposits based on market indicators 
  • Addressing changes in the Risk Focused Examination process

The Implementation ALM workshop is a five-hour session providing tools needed to implement an effective ALM process in your credit union. It addresses these areas:

  • Measuring and understanding interest-rate risk/sensitivity (GAP)
  • Organizing a successful ALM process
  • Discussing guidelines for developing an effective Investment policy
  • Discussing guidelines for developing an effective ALM policy
  • Reviewing broker/dealer due diligence
  • Developing a consistent ALCO agenda
  • Monitoring and measuring liquidity
