The Alamo Chapter of Credit Unions concluded its 2018 Fiesta fundraising efforts to benefit Purple Heart Homes with a networking event on May 5. The funds raised will be used to assist a local area veteran as part of "Operation: Veteran Home Renovation," which will officially kick off on Purple Heart Day, Aug. 7, 2018.

The Cinco de Mayo Fiesta was held at The Rustic in San Antonio and included food, drinks, live music, and a silent auction. Leading up to the event, the Alamo Chapter also sold Fiesta medals to raise funds.

In all, the Chapter committed to raising at least $5,000 to benefit Purple Heart Homes, a public charity whose mission is “dedicated to providing housing for Service Connected Disabled Veterans that is substantial in function, design, and quality fit to welcome home the fighting men and women of America.”

The Alamo Chapter of Credit Unions represents 20 credit unions in the San Antonio/Del Rio area. The Chapter’s goal is to promote the benefits of credit union membership and to assist member credit unions with advocacy resources, volunteer opportunities, and education. The Chapter also supports local organizations that share the mission of “people helping people,” such as Purple Heart Homes. To learn more about the Chapter, visit their website at alamoccu.com.
