A+ FCU Responds to Needs of Business Community
Wednesday, June 26, 2013 7:40 AM

According to the Texas Economic Development Division, small businesses account for the majority of the employers within the State of Texas. There are reportedly more than 2.2 million small businesses in Texas. Additionally, business ownership is becoming more diverse and inclusive in the state. In the last decade, the number of both women and minority small business owners has grown. In particular, minority-owned businesses recently numbered over 725,000. Credit unions like A+ FCU are doing their part to help ensure small businesses continue to flourish.

The Austin-based credit union is offering a free Small Business Workshop series in July. Presented by community leaders and small business owners, the workshops will focus on important considerations for business owners and prospective owners including establishing a small business, taxes, financing options and minority- and women-owned small business certifications.

“A+FCU has a desire to empower and support our small business community. This is one more opportunity for us to help people achieve their dreams through life-long financial partnerships” said Kerry A. S. Parker, CEO of A+ FCU.

The free workshops are open to the community. Interestingly, Texas dominates CNNMoney’s list of eight best places to launch a small business. Austin topped that list, followed by Houston (#3), San Antonio (#5), and Dallas-Fort Worth (#7).
