A+ FCU Holds 6th Annual Savings Challenge in High School Branches
Friday, October 3, 2014 7:00 AM

A+ Federal Credit Union in Texas is one of the few financial institutions that have actual credit union branches in high schools. These branches are located in Connally, Hendrickson, Round Rock, and San Marcos.

In conjunction with these branches, A+ FCU holds an event titled Savings Challenge: School Showdown.  This challenge gives staff and students an opportunity to attend on-site financial literacy workshops and complete online financial literacy courses, as well as set financial goals. They compete for $13,000 worth of prizes for themselves and their school.

The high schools compete to win $5,000 by earning points based on the number of participants in the individual challenge, how many accounts were opened, staff and student participation in the workshop, and completion of the online courses.

In addition to the $5,000, the staff and students are eligible to win $1,000. A panel of judges is selected and reviews each challenger's self-evaluation and points to determine the winner.

For more information and an online application, visit Applications must be completed by 11:59 p.m. Oct. 14, 2014.
