A Change That's Common Cents—Texas CU Gets a New Name
Tuesday, March 29, 2016 6:50 AM

Texas Coastal Community Federal Credit Union has announced its name change, effective Feb. 1, 2016, to Common Cents Credit Union. The Texas-based credit union has two branches, one in Beaumont and one in Winnie.

Why the name change? The leadership and staff, from CEO to tellers, wanted to represent something unique. They came together in numerous meetings to talk about who they are as individuals and who want to be as a credit union.

"We wanted to define our vision and our mission," said Marketing Specialist Tish Lane. "Each employee wrote down the core values they wanted to carry out in their work, and then they discussed the values they wanted to represent and live by daily."

This was a quality way to unify their team, Lane notes, and know that the path they were undertaking to carry out those values would manifest in everything they did.

To sum it up, take a look at their tag line:  “It just makes sense.”

From the Common Cents mission statement:

We are Crazy Good.

We are Extraordinary.

We are NOT your typical credit union.

We are Top-notch.

We are Simply Sensible.

“Our new name is both straightforward and a play on words," said Common Cents CEO Lanya Reynolds. "Our credit union offers the same great member services as ever, with an emphasis on helping our members with financial education and products/services that best fit their unique needs. Common Sense? You bet. Common Cents? Even Better."

The credit union has assets of nearly $25 million and serves 2,912 members. Those who live, work, or worship in Jefferson or Chambers counties are welcome to become members of Common Cents.
