After an intensive training in the credit union philosophy and its practical application in today’s credit unions, forty credit union leaders from around the United States, the Caribbean and the Philippines have been named Credit Union Development Educators (CUDEs) by the National Credit Union Foundation. Among the new graduates are:

  • Arna Reynolds, Amarillo Community FCU, Amarillo
  • Randall Dixon, Energy Capital Credit Union, Houston
  • Linda Birt, People’s Trust FCU, Houston
  • Tawna Wolfe, Tarrant County Credit Union, Fort Worth
  • Lisa Wyman, Complex Community Credit Union, Odessa
  • Dean Borland, Credit Union Resources, Dallas
  • Grant Weiland, Credit Union Association of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City

During the week-long program in Madison, Wis., participants took place in group exercises and in-depth discussions, along with field trips and team projects designed to help them understand and embrace the cooperative principles of the credit union movement, as they tackle real-world challenges faced by credit unions and their members. Courtney Moran of the Texas Credit Union Foundation served as a program mentor.

“During DE training, we work to ensure the lessons in credit union philosophy are applicable and relevant to current events,” said Lois Kitsch, DE Facilitator and NCUF National Program Director. “For example, for the final case studies, participants worked through and presented solutions to critical issues that included credit union solutions to payday lending, a small credit union merger dilemma, the low-income designation, building an Islamic banking center, developing a credit union awareness campaign, and league consolidation.”

The next DE Training will take place in Madison, Wis. September 4-11, 2013. Click here to register or visit the NCUF website at www.ncuf.coop to learn more.
