2016 AMOCO Federal Credit Union Scholarships
Monday, June 27, 2016 6:50 AM

AMOCO Federal Credit Union has awarded four scholarships to exemplary high school and college students in Galveston County and surrounding areas. For more than seven years, the AMOCO Scholarship Program has been investing in the future generation and upholding the philosophy of “People Helping People,” as it was designed to do.

The AMOCO Scholarship, a tradition that began in 2009, awards $1,000 and a paid summer internship to well-deserving students. Additionally, the George F. Ballis Scholarship which honors the late AMOCO CEO and president, awards $2,000 and a paid summer internship to a student who captures the spirit of the scholarship's namesake. The four scholarship winners were chosen based on their outstanding GPA, essays, extra-curricular and volunteer activities, and letters of recommendation.

This year’s scholarship winners include:

  • Kameron Hypolite (AMOCO Scholarship Winner – Pearland High School)|
He will be attending University of Pennsylvania in the fall.
  • Brooke Beanland (AMOCO Scholarship Winner – Texas City High School)
She will be continuing her education at The University of Texas at Austin.
  • Chloe Mark (AMOCO Scholarship Winner – The University of Texas at Austin)
She is the college winner and the recipient of the AMOCO Scholarship in 2014.
  • Colin Lamb (George F. Ballis Scholarship Winner – Santa Fe High School)
He will be pursuing his degree at Texas Lutheran University.

All four winners will be offered an opportunity to gain experience through a paid summer internship at AMOCO. The internship program serves to help students build professional skills, enhance teamwork and leadership skills, and network with other interns and business professionals.

Congratulations to all the AMOCO scholars!
