Forty-five police department employees joined the “Thank You for Keeping Our Bears Safe” reception for the Baylor Police Department on Aug. 3. The event was sponsored by 1st University Credit Union to show appreciation for the good work the police do on the Baylor campus to keep students, staff, and the credit union protected and safe.

Cookies shaped like badges were provided by Best Yet Bakery, and Subway donated four sandwich trays. Door prizes of police-grade flashlights were donated by W Promotions.

Everyone had a cup for their drinks that said “Thank You for Keeping Our Bears Safe.” And every officer received a refreshing cooling towel to help with the heat. Police Survival kits were distributed, which included candies, complete a clever list on the bag.

Attendees reported that the officers enjoyed the gesture. “Thank you so much for doing this for us, it means a lot,” said Chief Brad Wigtil.

“We appreciate the credit union doing this for us," said Captain Danny Knight. "Thank you for acknowledging our efforts.”

“We can’t thank the police officers at Baylor University and around the country enough for all they do, putting themselves in harm’s way to keep us safe," said 1st University Credit Union CEO Gary Parker. "The Baylor Police Department here on campus has been exemplary.”

1st University Credit Union, a $12 million asset financial institution with 1,900 members, is located on the Baylor University campus in Waco, Texas.
